The Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was fun to use!

You can see the layering better in this photo (above). Below is the inside of the card.

I love to make this size card. It make it just a little more unique from the regular A2 or Square cards.

The Newborn King

Saturday, November 29, 2014

Today I woke up to find a very thin layer of snow here in Victoria, BC. This used to be a rare occurrence, but it seems nearly every year of late, this happens once or twice a year. But it did remind me that Christmas is not far off.

I'm sharing with you today a card I made using "The Newborn King" stamp set. I don't have any Blendabilities yet, so how could I use this stamp? This is what I came up with.

You will note that by tracing "Glory" with Dazzling Details made the Mossy Meadows ink run. It had never done that before, so I was disappointed when it happened. You can see that on the So Saffron star it is fine.

This is what you see when you open the card.

First, I used a 1 3/8" punched circle scrap to lay over the nativity and with a sponge blended So Saffron ink around the outside of the circle. Once I was happy with the colour, I removed the circle and lightly blended the inside of the circle leaving the center untouched. Then came a light blending of Pool Party, and then Marina Mist.

Next, I took three different designs of green paper from Trim The Tree Designer pack, stamping the image on each. I cut out some of the treetops from each and paper pieced the stamped image. The star hanging, is the star from the stamp set "Festival of Trees" (stamped twice for front and back).

If you are going to paper piece, be sure that your image doesn't have a paper piecing section on the fold of the card like the section of tree you see on the fold.

Blues and silvers/grays, or blues and gold would look good too!

Measurements

Card
Naturals White - 4 1/4" x 11" - score @ 5 1/2"
Chocolate Chip - 4 1/4" x 11" - score @ 5 1/2" then turn cardstock to other side & score at 3" & 8"

First die cut your circle from the center before folding any scorelines. Using the Whisper White ink and the treetop part of the stamp, create a top and bottom border on the Chocolate Chip card interior piece. Then stamp your sentiment on the left panel.

Card front layers
Chocolate Chip - 5" x 3 3/4"
Cherry Cobbler - 4 7/8" x 3 5/8"
Naturals White - 4 3/8" x 3 1/8"

I found the Mossy Meadows ink looked too black, so I decided to second stamp with this colour and it looks more green. Create the border on the Naturals white piece with Mossy Meadows ink in the same manner as with the border on the Chocolate Chip piece but going around all four sides. Then stamp the sentiment, then the star with So Saffron.

The products used for this card can be found below.

Hope you are inspired to create cards like this one using whatever stamps you wish. And don't forget my Stampin' Up Give-a-way!

Have fun!

Thank You So Much

Thursday, November 27, 2014

I hope that you aren't getting tired of hearing about the Stampin' Up Nanaimo Fall Conference, but this might be the last mention of it. I wanted to thank Calgary headquarters for holding the conference here on the Island and for their generosity. So, I made Dale and Carrie a 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" "Thank You" card.

I really loved being able to stamp the flowers and then punch them out with the Pansy punch! I only had to fussy cut the leaves form the Stippled Flowers stamp set.

Colours are Lost Lagoon, So Saffron, and Wild Wasabi (cardstock & ink). The DSP is from the All Abloom DSP paper stack.

The extra stamped flower I attached inside after taking the photos. Below you can find what I used in the making of this card.

Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Perks of Being a Demonstrator

Sunday, November 23, 2014

I've just had a couple of exciting days. I was fortunate to be able to enroll for the Stampin' Up fall conference held here on Vancouver Island, in Nanaimo, BC. It made me all the happier that I signed up with Stampin' Up, and I came away having learned things about how to make my new business a success as well as learning a couple of paper crafting things.

What was amazing is that what we paid for registering for the conference we got back twice that amount in free stamp sets throughout the conference! Since I'm new and have practically nothing of Stampin' Up products, this was a wonderful perk! I'll share with about that and more in the video below. But here are a few photos taken at the conference.

And this was the gorgeous view from our hotel room.

I was wonderful to meet so many that share the same love of creativity even though we all have our own business we shared things to help each other out. I've started to make new friends already! Some of us got together after our dinner Friday night and met in some one's suite where we enjoyed some snacks and sweets, and talked till past midnight without realizing it! The time just flew by.

And these are the two lovely ladies that I traveled with! We enjoyed each others company and plan to get together again!

Now, here you can see what Stampin' Up gave to everyone attending the conference, and then I'll share with you additional things like all the PRIZES!

You might want to look into becoming a Stampin' Up Demonsrator too! Learn more about it here.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing in the fun I had.

In case you like some of the stamp sets I showed you, see below for more information.

Scraps Into Gift Tags

Friday, November 21, 2014

When you have to make kits for a Workshop, but only have Scraps until your order arrives, what do you do? Make Christmas Gift Tags of course!

So these are the tags we made at my first workshop. We had fun getting to know some new people and catching up with friends not seen in a while. At the end of this post you can see all the supplies and tools used for these tags mad from scraps. Next you'll see photos of each individual tag!

So there you have it. We had a lot of fun making these last night. See what you can put together with your scraps to create tags!

Here is what was all used to make these tags.
